A Day in Oxford

Taking a day to do something different, we set off in the morning for the town of Oxford, Maryland. A picturesque little town on the Tred Avon river. We start our journey with a long walk along the shoreline and wind our way through the historic streets, stopping off and on to admire the architecture of the homes build in years past.  Hand-paved brick sidewalks, climbing roses and porches that beg you to come and sit and relax. As the sun starts to climb we know that lunch is on our minds…  we make our way towards The Masthead a great local restaurant with a large deck at the water’s edge.  The air is clean with a gentle breeze and sounds of the water that lull you into a relaxed mood.  Local Crab dishes are a must and they even add it to a salad. After a satisfying meal we head back towards the center of town and make our way to the Scottish Highland Creamery for what is the best ice-cream you ever tasted. Don’t expect a fancy place.. just a walk up the boardwalk to a small window and the long list of flavors to choose from.  As we delight in our choice of favorites we continue our stroll down to the beach and sit to watch the elegant boats sail across the river, kayakers paddle by and the waves gently break on the shore.  The day comes to eve and the sun starts to set with beautiful hues of blue, pink and orange; you know that your day in Oxford has come to a close and its time to leave and reflect on another lovely day on the Eastern Shore.
